Toward Eternity
John Mitchell, a middle-aged man, sits in chair beside a bed in a hospital room. The sound of a heart monitor is beeping in the background. John sits there staring at the person in the bed. The only other person in the room is a handsome man in a suit and tie standing in the corner of the room behind John. The man stands there silently with his arms at his side staring at John.
John opens his mouth to speak, but quickly closes it without uttering a word. He brings his hands to face and rubs his eyes. With a sigh, he looks down at his empty hands, and notices his wedding ring. He starts to twist the ring around his finger.
